Mastering is a final form of audio post-production, the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a storage device called master, the source from which all copies will be produced, through methods such as pressing, duplication and replication. The format of choice today is digital, although analog masters, such as tapes, are still used in the industry.

In this final technical/creative process, volumes of various songs such as f. exmpl. in the case of an album get balanced and minor flaws are fixed. A common tone is also created through compression , equalization and M / S processing to combine the themes, even if they have been recorded in different places or mixed by different engineers.

At the same time there is the technical part that is no less important where the technician or engineer attends if the different tracks do not exceed the maximum recommended volume (depends on the format and ways of distribution) that ensures competitiveness between commercial themes of the same kind, as well as incl. IRSC codes for the identification and assignment of rights and at the end creates a DDP or Master CD file that is used for replication.
